An Exclusive Interview with Naga Dyvik, Founder of The Artful Abode, a Bangalore-based luxury interior design studio

Meet Naga Dyvik, visionary founder of The Artful Abode, Bangalore’s premier luxury interior design studio.

In this exclusive interview, he unveils his creative journey, blending global elegance with Indian heritage to craft timeless, soulful spaces that redefine luxury living.

Can you share how your journey into interior design began, and what inspired you to found The Artful Abode in Bangalore?

Naga Dyvik: My journey into interior design began very organically. I was always drawn to spaces—how they affect mood, routine, and the way people live. Early in my career, I worked closely with execution teams, which gave me a strong on-ground understanding of materials, detailing, and real-world challenges.

Over time, I realised there was a gap in the market. Many homes looked visually impressive but lacked depth, longevity, or functionality.

The Artful Abode was founded to bridge that gap—to create homes that are thoughtfully designed, well-executed, and deeply personal. Bangalore felt like the right place to build this studio because of its mix of global exposure and strong residential culture.

What were the biggest challenges in establishing a luxury interior design studio in Bangalore’s competitive market, and how did you overcome them?

Naga Dyvik: One of the biggest challenges was differentiation. Bangalore has no shortage of interior studios, but true luxury lies in process, detailing, and consistency—not just aesthetics. Educating clients about quality, timelines, and long-term value took time.

Another challenge was maintaining execution standards while scaling responsibly. I overcame this by staying closely involved in projects, building reliable vendor relationships, and choosing quality over volume. Growth was slow but intentional, and that has helped shape the studio’s credibility today.

How do you define “artful” in the context of luxury interiors, and what principles guide your studio’s signature style?

Naga Dyvik: For me, “artful” means thoughtful—design that is intentional rather than ornamental. It’s about proportion, balance, material honesty, and how a space feels over time.

Our signature style is guided by restraint, timelessness, and functionality. We don’t chase trends. Instead, we focus on neutral palettes, tactile materials, and clean architectural lines that allow a home to evolve with its occupants. Luxury, in our context, is quiet, refined, and deeply lived-in.

Walk us through your creative process from client consultation to project completion. How do you ensure every space feels bespoke?

Naga Dyvik: The process always begins with conversation. Understanding how clients live, their routines, preferences, and pain points is far more important than discussing finishes upfront.

Once we establish that foundation, we move into spatial planning and material concepts tailored specifically to the client. Detailed drawings, samples, and mock-ups ensure clarity before execution begins.

During execution, attention to detail is critical—this is where a design truly comes alive. Because no two clients are the same, no two homes we design ever feel identical.

What’s the most memorable project you’ve undertaken, and what made it stand out?

Naga Dyvik: Some of the most memorable projects are those where clients placed complete trust in the process. One such home stands out because it was designed entirely around how the family lived and also how the space would be photographed.

The project wasn’t about dramatic elements—it was about flow, comfort, and material choices that synced beautifully. Seeing how effortlessly the family settled into the space reaffirmed my belief that good design should support life, not overpower it.

Where do you see The Artful Abode expanding in the next five years—perhaps into new markets or sustainable initiatives?

Naga Dyvik: In the next five years, I see The Artful Abode growing thoughtfully rather than rapidly. Expansion into select markets beyond Bangalore is definitely on the horizon, but only where our design philosophy aligns with client expectations.

Growth for us will always be rooted in integrity and design depth.

What emerging trends in luxury interiors excite you most for 2026 and beyond?

Naga Dyvik: What excites me most is the shift away from excess. Luxury interiors are moving toward warmth, tactility, and emotional connection. There’s a renewed appreciation for craftsmanship, natural materials, and spaces that feel calm and grounded.

Clients are becoming more design-aware and are asking better questions—not just about how a space looks, but how it functions and ages.

That shift aligns perfectly with the way we already design, and it makes the future of Indian luxury interiors very exciting.

Naga Dyvik’s vision for The Artful Abode proves luxury design thrives on authenticity and innovation. His Bangalore studio inspires us to embrace spaces that reflect our essence. Thank you, Naga, for this enlightening conversation on artful living.
