Interview with Nidhi Anand Batra, Founder, True North Agency

Nidhi Anand Batra is a master’s in international journalism from the United Kingdom, with an internship with BBC India.

She come from a very progressive Real estate business family and her early years were all about career, education and the perfect upbringing of a woman who was told to create her own individual identity while never forgetting her ground family values.  

With 13 years of experience working in real estate and developing marketing and branding strategies for several businesses across  industries, Nidhi Anand Batra is a marketing and brand  communications expert.

Nidhi has experience working with customers in the advertising and marketing industries before to founding True North Agency, which offers her the benefit of being able to use her skills to alter communication for her clients. 

Nidhi is a journalist by profession and holds a Master’s in International Journalism from the UK.  She previously worked as a journalist for an Indian news channel and has been in charge of a real estate company’s marketing division for the past 12 years.

Please tell us a little about your entrepreneurial journey?

Nidhi Anand Batra: I have worked in my initial years as a Producer at NDTV 24*7 before I entered the entrepreneurial world and started heading the Marketing Department at the Family’s Real Estate Business.

That’s when I realised my love and passion for marketing and for the years that have gone by, I have lived, breathed and worked very hard towards creating new, exciting and futuristic marketing strategies for businesses.

After heading the Marketing Department for my Real Estate Business for 13 years I ventured into creating a Full Stack Marketing Agency offering end to end integrated marketing solutions to businesses and start-ups.

Kindly brief us about your company, its specialization, and the services that it offers

Nidhi Anand Batra: True North is a full stack marketing agency for the now! We believe the future of marketing lies in content and we love creating content, whether written or visual we ace these elements with elan.

So, the perfect website content or an organic YouTube channel; we curate a marketing mix for a business keeping the nature of the business in mind.

Gone are the days when you can hard sell a customer. We believe in creating experiences because an intelligent and well exposed customer today would get lured into an experience not a buy me strategy pattern. So, we create experiential marketing with our content backgrounds working as our strength.

What is your biggest USP

Nidhi Anand Batra: My love for content and being a serial entrepreneur; we deep dive into the business of our clients rather than create strategies on face value.

Our navigation and deep diving abilities make us stand out. Also being on the other side of the table for my other ventures I know what anyone expects from an agency. We treat a brand as much our baby as the company would, that’s our differentiator.

What is your role at True North Agency?

Nidhi Anand Batra: I am the Founder at True North Marketers

What made you join this type of profession?

Nidhi Anand Batra: Marketing is the only thing I have lived, it’s who I am. When onboarding a new client and when I get into creating magic with a new marketing plan I go into a different zone.

I blast music in my years and get into researching, creating plans, putting even office walls to use by creating info charts and brainstorming with my fantastic team with all new and exciting ideas we can create for our clients. Nothing makes me happier than when I am working on a marketing strategy.

What was your mission and vision at the outset?

Nidhi Anand Batra: To create an agency, I wouldn’t want to shift away from. I love the start-up space. Nothing challenges me more than taking up a project on its way up and being a part of their story and their chaos by their side.

My vision is to create magic with marketing. My eyes light up every time I see an exciting strategy. So, I want to create marketing but viable campaigns that are approachable. I believe you don’t always need big budgets for interesting campaigns. An idea is what you need.

What is your Leadership Mantra

Nidhi Anand Batra: I am who I am because of my team who works so hard. We are a riot at work. If you enjoy what you do and your team watches that passion it’s contagious, just show up every day loving your work and pep up your team to do the same.

I constantly make them push their boundaries to create and think more and we all have it in us to create magic; it’s just the wings that are needed. I believe if you give your team the wings and trust them you will be amazed what strengths they hold.

What’s your company’s goals?

Nidhi Anand Batra: True North’s goal is to be one of the most sought-after full stack marketing agencies in the country. And with the honest hard work we are all putting in here I believe it is only a matter of time before we make it there.

What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Nidhi Anand Batra: I failed when I started a restaurant venture 11 years back but guess what today my main consultancy revolves around restaurants and resorts.

They say when you burn your hands you know what not to do. Failing at running a money-making business taught me the mantras of running a successful hospitality business and today I use all that experience and manage to create full funnel marketing plans for restaurants across the country which have been result and revenue oriented.

What was the inspiration behind turning an entrepreneur

Nidhi Anand Batra: I was born and raised in a business family. We don’t do normal. In short, I love chaos and erratic living so yes entrepreneurship it is

Key things to consider before starting a Business

• Manifest and stay positive they are the 70 percent of what make you successful
• Wake up every morning to a disciplined routine, workout, meditate, eat clean and leave the house with gratitude and the conviction that you are making history.
• Be prepared for failures and accept them with a smile.

What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made?

Nidhi Anand Batra: I don’t call them mistakes; I call them life lessons and I never regret any decision I ever made. It is a part of who I am today. Having said that True North could have happened much earlier if I had trusted myself.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Nidhi Anand Batra: Create positive daily schedules, follow them, pick good habits like working out, meditating, be disciplined about them and never ever think hard work can be substituted for.

You can work smart yes, but hard work cannot be replaced. And always remember Never let anyone tell you, you are not good enough!

Your success mantra for young and aspiring entrepreneurs

Nidhi Anand Batra: Hard work, hard work and hard work. Bingo! Someday you are going to make it. Whether later or early you did this, and it is going to go down history.

So, wake up every morning and tell yourself this is going to be the best day of my life and go for the kill, you have one life, and you are so young and energetic go for it because you are all you have!
