Who is Nikesh Arora?
Nikesh Jagdish Kumar Arora is an Indian-American business executive. He is the CEO and chairperson of Palo Alto Networks.
He was a senior executive at Google. From October 2014 to June 2018, he served as the president of SoftBank Group.
He became CEO and Chairperson of Palo Alto Networks on 1st June 2018. He was born on 9th February 1968 in an Indian Air Force officer’s family.
He completed his schooling from The Air Force School (Subroto Park). For graduation, he went to the Indian Institute of Technology, BHU in Varanasi, India.
There he completed his bachelor in electrical engineering in 1989. He gets a degree from Boston College and an MBA from Northeastern University. He holds the designation of CFA also.
Professional Career:
Nikesh Arora started his career by selling computers of Wipro to government officials. At the age of 21, he moved to the United States and did his MBA from Northeastern University.
In 1992, Nikesh Arora began his career at Fidelity Investments where he held top technology management and finance portfolios. Later he became the vice president, Fidelity Technologies, finance department.
In 2001, he served as a chief marketing officer of the T-Mobile International Division. He was the founder and chief executive officer of T-Motion PLC, which merged with T-Mobile International in 2002.
Google:
In 2004, he joined Google. In Google, he served as Vice President, Europe Operation from 2004 to 2007, from 2007 to 2009 President Europe, Middle East, and Africa and President, Global Sales Operations, and Business Development from 2009 to 2010.
From January 2011 to 2014, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer at Google Inc. In July 2014 he resign from the post of Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer in July 2014.
SoftBank Corp.:
As President and Chief Operating Officer at SoftBank he received over $200 million in compensation over the last two years as the head of SoftBank’s operations. This pay package made Arora the world’s highest-paid executive.
Experiences:
Arora has served on the board of directors at Aviva, Colgate-Palmolive, Airtel, Richemont Sprint, SoftBank, Yahoo Japan, etc.
While in SoftBank, due to their investment in Ola, Didi, Oye, Guardant, etc. – he is also CFA who had played a prominent role in his life.
He worked as a chief marketing officer and a Member of the Management Board at T-Mobile, Bharti Airtel, and Europe.
