Life Story of Nikhat Zareen, an Indian boxer
Nikhat Zareen is an Indian boxer. She is called Nikki also. At 2011 AIBA Women’s Youth & Junior World Boxing Championship in Antalya, she won gold medal.
Again at 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship, she won the gold. She became the fifth Indian women to win the gold medal at the IBA World Boxing Championship.
Since June 2021, she works as general banking officer at Bank of India. In 2022, Birmingham Commonwealth Games again she won the gold Medal.
Nikhat Zareen became popular after winning a gold medal in Boxing World Championship held in Istanbul, Turky. She won it after defeating Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong on 19th May 2022.
Early life of Nikhat Zareen:
Nikhat Zareen was born on 14th June 1996 at Nizamabad city of Andhra Pradesh. Mohammad Zareen is his father & Parveen Sultana is her mother.
Her father is an estate agent. After stying for 15 years in Soudi Arebia, his father shifted to Nizamabad India to support his daughters in sports & studies.

She has two sisters named Anjum Minaaz & Afnan Zareen. She completed her primary education from the Nirmala Hrudaya Girls High School, Nizamabad.
Later, Nikhat Zareen pursed a degree in Bachelor of Arts (B.A) at AV College in Hyderabad, Telangana. She is appointed as the staff officer in the Bank of India zonal office at AC Guards, Hyderabad.
Boxing Career of Nikhat Zareen:
Nikhat Zareen was introduced to boxing by her father. Initially for a year, she trained under him. In 2009, she was inducted into the Sports Authority of India in Vishakhapatnam to train under Dronacharya awardee, IV Rao. Next year in 2010, she was being declared as the ‘golden best boxer’ at the Erode Nationals.
In 2011 Women’s Junior and Youth World Boxing Championships, she won gold medal in flyweight division held at the AIBA Women’s Junior and Youth World Boxing Championship in Turkey.
Nikhat Zareen was up against Turkish boxer Ulku Demir. During 2014 Youth World Boxing Championships, she won a silver medal in the Youth World Boxing Championship held in Bulgaria.
In 2014 Nations Cup International Boxing Tournament, she won a gold medal at the third Nations Cup International Boxing Tournament held in Novi Sad, Serbia on 12 January 2014. She defeated Paltceva Ekaterina of Russia in the 51 kg weight category.
Again in 2015 16th Senior Woman National Boxing Championship, she won a gold medal at 16th Senior Woman National Boxing Championship at Assam.
In 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament, she won a silver medal at Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament held in Bangkok.
In 2019 Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament, she won a gold medal at Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament held in Sofia, Bulgaria.

In 2022 Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament, she defeated Ukraine’s Tetiana Kob, a three-time European Championships medallist 4-1 to clinch a gold medal at the 73rd Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria.
That time the women’s team was led by coach Bhaskar Bhatt. Zareen also beat Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Buse Naz Çakıroğlu in the semi-finals.
During 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, on 19 May 2022, she won the gold medal in the 52kg category at the Women’s World Championship.
Nikhat Zareen won it by defeating Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas in the fly-weight final in Istanbul, Turkey. Nikhat became the fifth Indian women’s boxer to win a gold medal at the World Championships, joining Mary Kom, Laishram Sarita Devi, Jenny R. L., and Lekha K. C. She was the second Indian boxer to win a World Championships Gold Medal abroad (outside India) after M.C. Mary Kom. M.C. Mary Kom did it four times out of her six Gold Medals.
In 2022 Commonwealth Games, she won the third gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham after defeating Carly McNaul of Northern Ireland in light flyweight category.

She is an Indian boxer to win the International Boxing Association (Amateur) Women’s Youth & Junior World Championship held in Antalya in 2011.
Nikhat Zareen won the bronze medal in 2019, at 2nd Indian open international boxing tournament at Guwahati. In 2014, she won the silver medal in the Youth World Boxing Championship at Bulgaria.
In 2016, she won “The New Express DEVI Award” by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu. As she suffered from shoulder injury in 2017, she was out of the National Camp for a year.
Nikhat Zareen Awards:
- In 2014, she was appointed as the official ambassador of her hometown Nizamabad, Telangana.
- In 2015, she became best boxer in the All India inter university boxing championship Jalandhar, India.
- In 2019, she received JFW Award for Excellence in Sports.
- In 2020, she was honored by sports minister V. Srinivas Goud & the sports authority of Telangana state for her contribution in Indian athletics. She was awarded with 10,000 cash and an electric scooter.
Since 2018, she is the Brand Ambassador of Adidas. She is supported by the Welspun group and is included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme of Sports Authority of India.
