Piyush Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Lenskart, completed his Bachelor in English Hons from McGill University, Canada.
After graduation, he served as a programmer at Microsoft, Redmond, Washington in 2007. After working there for less than a year, Bansal quit his job and returned to India and started SearchMyCampus and Valyoo Technologies.
New Delhi: The second season of the popular reality TV show Shark Tank India is all set to go on air from January 2 in a new avatar.
This season’s panelists include CarDekho Group founder Amit Jain, who replaces Ashnir Grover, former co-founder of BharatPay; Aman Gupta, co-founder and CMO of boAt; Piyush Bansal, CEO of Lenskart; Vinita Singh, Co-Founder and CEO of Sugar Cosmetics; Shaadi.com Founder Anupam Mittal and Emcure Pharmaceuticals Executive Director Namita Thapar.
The business reality show will be telecast on Sony Entertainment Television channel from Monday to Friday at 9 PM.
Bansal co-founded omnichannel eyewear retailer Lenskart in November 2010 with Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi. Currently he is the CEO of the company. The 36-year-old returns from the panel of Shark Tank Season 1.
Bansal completed his Bachelors in English Hons from McGill University, Canada. After graduation, the entrepreneur served as a programmer at Microsoft, Redmond, Washington in 2007.
After working there for less than a year, Bansal quit his job and returned to India and started SearchMyCampus and Valyoo Technologies.
He completed his MPEFB- Management from IIM Bangalore in 2008-09. A year later in 2010, Bansal co-founded an eyeglass retailer to provide access to glasses to people in need.
The Lenscart website states that 1/3 of our population needs glasses but doesn’t have access to them, making us the blind capital of the world with over 15 million blind people.
The objective behind Lenskart was to truly add ‘value’ to customers’ lives by eliminating retailers, establishing our own high-quality manufacturing and supplying directly to consumers everywhere in India.

The co-founder and CEO of Lenskart, who became a unicorn in 2019 with a valuation of $1.5B, is worth Rs. 600 crores. He was featured in Fortune India’s ‘Best 40 Under 40 Entrepreneurs 2019’ list.
Meanwhile, Bansal and fellow shark Aman Gupta recently revealed what fans can expect from the second season of the reality TV show.
Lenskart CEO Bansal was quoted by The Hindu as saying, “The impact of season one can be seen in season two. The quality of entrepreneurs, pitches and businesses is very high.” Piyush also added that entrepreneurs have become smarter and sharks have also become smarter.
