An interview with Pritam Kumar Agrawal, Founder of Hello Kids

In this enlightening interview, Pritam Kumar Agrawal, Founder of Hello Kids, shares his passion for transforming early childhood education.

He discusses the innovative approaches and creative methodologies that set Hello Kids apart, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young minds in a fun and engaging environment.

What inspired you to start Hello Kids, and how did you identify the gap in India’s preschool education system?

Pritam Kumar Agrawal: Education has always been a passion, and I knew that to create meaningful change, it had to begin at the foundation—early childhood learning.

In 2005, India’s preschool space was largely unorganised, with only a handful of branded players and very limited presence in smaller towns or rural areas. Most parents were unaware of the value of structured preschool education.

We saw this gap and took the initiative to build a system that was accessible, consistent, and impactful—long before it was formally integrated into the Indian education framework in 2020. Today, we take pride in being among the early contributors to this important shift.

What were the key challenges you faced while scaling Hello Kids across India, and how did you overcome them?

Pritam Kumar Agrawal: Expanding in an unorganised sector came with challenges like regulatory ambiguity, lack of awareness in smaller towns, and a shortage of trained educators.

Many parents didn’t understand the importance of preschool, especially in rural areas. We tackled this by conducting parenting workshops, travelling extensively to build awareness, and developing a strong training ecosystem to ensure quality education was delivered uniformly across centers.

It was also important to localize our approach—understanding cultural nuances and tailoring our communication accordingly. Slowly but steadily, we built trust in communities that had never seen a preschool before.

Hello Kids is known for providing quality education at an affordable cost. How do you maintain this balance without compromising on standards?

Pritam Kumar Agrawal: The key lies in our well-defined Standard Operating Procedures and continuous teacher training. These ensure uniformity and quality in every classroom.

We streamline operations to minimize overheads and pass the cost benefits to parents, making quality early education both accessible and sustainable.

Our curriculum is research-based, play-driven, and designed to be both engaging and effective. We also use feedback loops and monitoring tools to continuously improve and maintain our standards.

What makes your franchise model successful, and how do you ensure consistency and quality across all centers?

Pritam Kumar Agrawal: Hello Kids pioneered India’s first no-royalty model in the preschool segment, making our franchise offering both entrepreneur-friendly and highly scalable.

Our success lies in providing comprehensive, end-to-end support—from initial setup to daily operations.

Every franchisee undergoes rigorous training, and we have robust monitoring systems in place to ensure adherence to our standards.

We maintain consistency and quality by actively sharing best practices, conducting regular audits, and staying closely engaged with each franchise partner.

Our central team plays a hands-on role in guiding operations, ensuring transparency and alignment with our core ethos.

This approach fosters a strong, empowered network that delivers the same quality of care and education across every Hello Kids center.

What’s your long-term vision for Hello Kids, and how do you see early childhood education evolving in India?

Pritam Kumar Agrawal: Our vision is to be the most trusted and widely recognized preschool brand in India, offering high-quality education at an affordable cost.

With NEP 2020 formally acknowledging the importance of early childhood education, we’re optimistic about the sector’s growth.

The future will demand more structured, play-based, and skill-oriented learning at the foundational level—and Hello Kids is ready to lead that change.

We aim to reach every corner of the country, especially Tier 2, Tier 3, and rural areas where such education is still emerging. We believe that every child, regardless of geography or background, deserves a strong start.

In conclusion, Agrawal’s dedication to fostering a love for learning in children is evident. His insights inspire educators and parents alike, highlighting the vital role of quality education in shaping the future of our youth.
