An Interview with Priyanka Wadhwani, Certified Cosmetologist
In this interview, we sit down with Priyanka Wadhwani, a certified cosmetologist with a passion for enhancing beauty through expert skincare, haircare, and makeup.
With years of experience, Priyanka offers valuable insights into the evolving world of cosmetology, sharing her personal journey and expert tips on beauty trends, client care, and self-confidence.
Priyanka, you’ve had an impressive career as an aesthetic counsellor, working with leading skin and hair clinics across India. Can you share what initially inspired you to pursue cosmetology?
Priyanka Wadhwani: My journey into cosmetology began with a deep passion for understanding the science behind skin and hair health. But it has more to the story , My mother started loosing her hair during chemo sessions , we were shocked to see how not her disease but physical appearance impacted her confidence.
As a microbiologist and certified clinical cosmetologist, I’ve always been fascinated by how our bodies respond to treatments and care. What truly inspired me, however, was seeing how transformative skin and hair care can be—not just physically, but emotionally.
The joy and confidence that radiates from someone who feels good in their skin is unparalleled. I wanted to contribute to that transformation, helping people embrace their beauty and regain confidence, no matter their starting point.
With over six years of experience, how have you seen the beauty and skincare industry evolve, especially in terms of trends and customer expectations?
Priyanka Wadhwani: The industry has evolved immensely. When I started, most people focused on quick fixes, but today, there’s a shift toward preventive care and science-backed solutions.
Customers are more informed and aware, asking about ingredients like peptides, ceramides, and niacinamide instead of just relying on marketing claims.
The integration of technology, such as laser treatments and stem cell therapies, has also been game-changing. Social media has played a significant role in creating a more educated audience, but it’s also heightened expectations for immediate results.
As professionals, we’ve adapted by blending education with treatments to ensure long-term benefits rather than just temporary fixes.
You’ve guided over 2500 patients toward healthier skin and hair. Can you tell us about some of the most rewarding success stories you’ve encountered in your career?
Priyanka Wadhwani: There are so many memorable stories, but one that stands out is a young man who struggled with severe Hair loss . He came to us with extremely low confidence, avoiding social situations and even family gatherings.
Through a combination of treatments like Hair transplant , Prp for existing hair and counseling sessions to boost his confidence, his transformation was incredible. Not only did his hair improve, but his outlook on life changed completely.
She started sharing his journey openly, inspiring others to seek help. These moments make all the hard work worthwhile because it’s not just about clear skin or healthy hair—it’s about empowering someone to feel good about themselves.
What are some common skin or hair concerns that people face today, and what steps can they take to prevent or treat these issues early on?
Priyanka Wadhwani: The most common concerns are acne, pigmentation, premature aging, hair fall, and thinning. For prevention:
• Skin: A consistent skincare routine with cleansing, moisturizing, and sunscreen is non-negotiable. Incorporate active ingredients like Vitamin C for brightening and retinol for anti-aging.
• Hair: Address nutritional deficiencies, avoid harsh chemical treatments, and opt for sulfate-free shampoos. Using serums with peptides or redensyl can help prevent hair thinning.
Starting treatments early, whether for acne or hair loss, can yield better results. Consulting a specialist ensures the concerns are addressed at the root cause, rather than masking symptoms.
As an aesthetic counsellor, what role do you think confidence plays in the treatment process? How do you ensure your patients feel empowered and confident during their journey?
Priyanka Wadhwani: Confidence is at the core of every treatment. When someone feels confident, they’re more likely to commit to their regimen and trust the process. I ensure this by building a strong rapport, setting realistic expectations, and celebrating every small milestone with them.
Education is key—I make sure my patients understand what’s happening at every step and why we’re choosing specific treatments. Empathy also plays a huge role; I listen to their concerns and provide a safe space for them to share without judgment.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about skincare and hair care treatments? How do you educate your clients to make informed decisions?
Priyanka Wadhwani: One of the biggest misconceptions is that results are instant. Many people expect overnight transformations, especially with social media showcasing “miracle” products or treatments. The truth is, achieving healthy skin and hair is a process that requires consistency and patience.
I educate my clients by explaining the science behind their concerns and the treatments. For example, I’ll show them how acne scars fade gradually or how hair regrowth cycles work.
Transparency about timelines, potential side effects, and the importance of a holistic approach (like diet and stress management) helps them make informed choices.
Skincare and haircare regimens can be overwhelming with so many products and treatments available. What are the essential steps everyone should include in their daily routine?
Priyanka Wadhwani: Absolutely, simplicity is key. For skincare:
- Morning: Cleanser, Vitamin C serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
- Night: Cleanser, targeted treatment (like retinol or niacinamide), and a nourishing moisturizer.
For haircare: Use a mild shampoo and conditioner, and apply a strengthening serum or oil to the scalp once or twice a week. Beyond products, maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, and protecting your skin and hair from environmental damage are essential steps.
What advice would you give to someone who is struggling with confidence due to skin or hair concerns?
Priyanka Wadhwani: First, know that you’re not alone. Millions of people face similar challenges, and there are solutions available for nearly every concern. Seek help from a qualified professional to create a plan tailored to your needs.
Be kind to yourself during the process—results take time, but every small step brings you closer to your goal. Focus on what you can control, like adopting a good routine and making healthier lifestyle choices, and trust that your efforts will pay off.
Remember, confidence isn’t about perfection; it’s about embracing your journey and taking steps to feel your best.
Priyanka Wadhwani’s expertise and dedication to her craft make her a standout in the world of cosmetology. Her insights inspire not only beauty professionals but also anyone looking to embrace self-care and confidence.
