What inspired you to start Organic Harvest, and how did you identify the gap in the Indian skincare market for organic products?
Rahul Agarwal: The inspiration to start Organic Harvest came from the thought that chemicals are for laundry, not for skin.
This incredible thought provoked me to kick-start this journey of discovering nature and matching it with beauty.
Despite having no prior experience of the personal care industry and being strongly discouraged by several industry stalwarts owing to the hugely competitive nature of the beauty segment in India, I was determined to develop a good quality product with a reasonable pricing.
Gradually, after two long years of in-depth research and development, Organic Harvest was brought into existence in June 2013 to promote the concept of safe skin.
An intelligent use of plants grown without pesticides and chemicals instigated the name ‘Organic Harvest’ where products are not just natural, but organic.
Additionally, I recognized a gap in the Indian skincare market for organic products. Seeing the rising demand for organic alternatives we identified an opportunity to cater to consumers seeking safer and more sustainable skincare options.
We began with a range of 20 SKUs, including face wash, scrubs, and anti-aging creams. The response was remarkable, particularly in the initial markets of Delhi and Punjab.
Within just three months of the launch, it became evident that Organic Harvest had struck a chord with consumers and had something of great value in their hands.
Please tell us a little about your entrepreneurial journey
Rahul Agarwal: My entrepreneurial journey began after I worked at Ernst & Young as a chartered accountant. In 2007, I started my first venture, Innovadia LLC, which focused on education and training.
In 2011, I ventured into the consumer space, inspired by the low consumption of organic personal care products in India. Taking inspiration from a story of two Bata salesmen, I approached the industry with a revolutionary mindset, aiming to create unique and exceptional products.

Rahul Agarwal: Organic Harvest was born out of the desire to bring the essence of 100% certified organic, toxin-free skincare products to the Indian beauty industry.
What started as a humble dream ten years back has now transformed into an ambition—to highlight the advantages of organic as the purest natural and make Organic Harvest the go-to brand for natural beauty seekers.
With this beautiful new beginning, Organic Harvest stays true to its world-class sustainable practices and end-to-end, toxin-free production processes that have been recognized as ‘100% Certified Organic’ by USDA and ECOCERT, globally trusted, independent certifications for social consciousness and eco-friendly production practices.
From the procurement of raw materials to the finished result, every Organic Harvest product goes through a stringent, earth-friendly, quality control process to ensure there is no trace of synthetic and harmful ingredients.
All this and more is done to ensure that the consumers get certified organic products that they can trust without worrying if they are natural, or how natural or efficacious they are.
Can you share with us the challenges you faced in establishing Organic Harvest as a brand, and how did you overcome them?
Rahul Agarwal: The biggest challenge was educating consumers about the benefits of certified organic products and how they differ from other green products like natural, ayurvedic, or herbal ones.
We discovered that while many brands claimed to be natural, they either barely contained enough plant-based ingredients or were a mix of natural and chemical ingredients.
In order to bridge this gap, we began our mission of demystifying naturals with the promise of authenticity & purity by empowering the consumers with 100% certified organic self-care made from organically sourced ingredients.
We focus on clear communication and transparency, providing detailed information about our 100% certified ingredients, organic farming practices, stringent quality standards, and certifications that provide us with the highest standards.

What are your thoughts on the future of the organic skincare market in India, and how do you plan to stay ahead of the competition?
Rahul Agarwal: As an organic skincare brand, we believe that the future of the organic skincare market in India is promising.
There is a growing awareness among consumers about the benefits of using organic and natural products on their skin.
This shift in consumer preferences is driven by concerns for personal health, environmental sustainability, and a desire for chemical-free alternatives.

How do you balance the company’s mission to provide high-quality organic skincare products with the need to remain profitable as a business?

What was the inspiration behind turning an entrepreneur?
Rahul Agarwal: My inspiration to become an entrepreneur stems from the family background, which has always been in business, through which I gained a lot of first hand exposure in terms of rewards and challenges.
But my personal drive for independence and deep desire to create something unique of my own, have brought my vision to life, made a lasting impact, and fueled my entrepreneurial spirit.
What has been your biggest achievement, and what goals do you have for the company in the next few years?
Rahul Agarwal: Our biggest achievement will be that we have been one of the first organic skincare brands in India to be certified by global organizations, and all our products are “100% American Certified Organic,” showcasing the superior quality of all our products.
Through our commitment towards our products, we have successfully created a niche for ourselves and garnered a loyal customer base.
Looking ahead, our goal for the next few years is to solidify our position as the leading organic personal care brand globally and aim to expand our reach and distribution channels, tapping into new markets around the world. Additionally, we will continue to prioritize innovation, research, and development to bring forth disruptive organic skincare solutions that cater to evolving consumer needs.
We aim to become the go-to brand for individuals seeking organic personal care products that enhance their well-being while minimizing their environmental impact.
Can you share any upcoming products or initiatives that Organic Harvest has planned for the future?
Rahul Agarwal: We want to become the world’s largest beauty brand in the next 2-3 years. To achieve this, we have been expanding across geographies and sales channels.
In sales channels, we have general trade, modern trade, marketplaces, D2C, and Salons. We already have a rich presence in the Middle East, US, UK, Canada & Nepal and are looking to expand to many more markets including South East Asia countries & Australia.
We are also exploring new product categories, that align with our organic philosophy and can offer organic benefits to consumers.
We are continuously working towards innovation, and meeting the evolving needs of its customers in the skincare and personal care market.
How does Organic Harvest ensure that its products are sustainable and eco-friendly?
Rahul Agarwal: As the name suggests, we source our ingredients from organic farming practices that avoid synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
In the process, we also make sure, we practice cruelty free and ethical practices and strictly don’t test our products on animals.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start their own organic skincare or beauty brand?
Rahul Agarwal: It is important to have a clear and compelling story behind your brand. Differentiate your products from others in the market and ensure that the differentiation can be easily communicated to consumers with strong identifying factors such as innovative formulations, eco-friendly packaging, sustainability, etc.
Focus on creating a unique selling proposition and emphasizing the benefits of certified organic ingredients, such as their natural, chemical free properties and the positive impact they have on skin health.
By highlighting the advantages of your product, you can successfully build brand loyalty and customer relationships.
What are your success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs?
Rahul Agarwal: Stay hungry and stay foolish. Encourage yourself to remain ambitious, curious, and willing to take risks. Stay curious about the world around you and this curiosity will enable you to identify new opportunities that others might overlook.
Remind yourself to always seek growth opportunities, stay open-minded, and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.
