An exclusive interview with Rajat Vashishta, Founder of Resumod.co, Online Resume Maker & Resume Builder
I am thrilled to welcome Rajat Vashishta, the visionary founder of Resumod.co, to our interview today. With a passion for empowering individuals in their career journeys, Rajat has played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the resume-building landscape.
Resumod.co stands as a testament to his commitment to providing cutting-edge tools and resources that not only streamline the resume creation process but also elevate the professional narrative of job seekers.
As we delve into the conversation, we have the opportunity to gain insights into Rajat’s entrepreneurial journey, the inspiration behind Resumod.co, and the evolving landscape of career development in the digital age.
Can you share the inspiration behind founding Resumod, and what motivated you to create this resume builder?
Rajat Vashishta: I have been running a professional career services business for 12+ years now. As I started understanding the market and the customers, l realised a large chunk of customers want professionally done resumes but are not up for paying a premium.
Using outdated resumes in turn affects their job search. So I created Resumod, an easy to use app with formats that match the professional standards at negligible costs. Another problem I have set out to solve is to help young jobseekers in deciding what to do next and how to do it. More on this later, we are still working on this.
In a crowded market of resume-building tools, what unique features or approaches does Resumod offer that set it apart from the competition?
Rajat Vashishta: Resumod is a one of a kind tool made in India and made for Indians (keeping the price sensitivity in mind). Most other high quality resume tools not Indian and practically unaffordable. Resumod is the fastest and the most cost-effective tool available to the India audience, that matches international standards.
You can actually create a resume on Resumod in 2 seconds (yes, seconds!). Then beyond resumes, our interview questions feature suggests interview questions that an HR is most likely to ask based on your profile. We are also bringing features like job match and pathfinding into the fray.
How do you envision Resumod making the resume-building process more accessible and user-friendly for individuals with varying levels of tech-savviness?
Rajat Vashishta: Resumod’s UI is built keeping in mind individuals with varying levels of tech-savviness. Our tool is easy to navigate- so much so that you can get your resume ready in just a few clicks. We have features like content suggestions that give you content for each section of your resume within 5 seconds. Our long term goal is to make resume building a hassle free process using top notch technology.
Could you highlight some of the challenges you faced during the development of Resumod and how you overcame them to create a seamless user experience?
Rajat Vashishta: We have pivoted a lot to come to this stage where we are seeing 500-1000 daily signups on the platform. Most challenges we faced were related to appealing to the right market and getting people to use Resumod against other tools like canva.
Secondly, a lot of challenges related to infrastructure because the costs rise exponentially after the initial stages. Through extensive programming we have been able to cut down on costs and maintain an optimum cost that is rising linearly and not exponentially.
With the job market evolving, how does Resumod adapt to the changing needs of job seekers, and what role does technology play in staying ahead in the resume-building industry?
Rajat Vashishta: Two things: 1, people are using AI a lot. So we brought AI into our platform. 2, people do not like to spend too much time or money on resumes because its just a means to finding the job and not an end goal in itself. So we have kept the cost low and like I mentioned, with AI and a lot of tech, a job seeker can practically create a resume in 2 seconds to 5 minutes.
How does Resumod incorporate the latest trends and best practices in resume writing to help users create resumes that stand out in today’s competitive job market?
Rajat Vashishta: It might sound boastful, but there are a lot of things in how we stand out.
- 18 Modern format that are different and yet ATS friendly
- AI suggestions for resume content, AI generated resume bullets, keywords, and AI rewrite feature
- Its free forever! (with paid features of course)
- Interview Questions specific to YOUR profile
- Personal Website creation at one click with a personal URL
- A lot of customisation options
A well planned use of each of these features can easily guarantee success in the job market.
As the founder of Resumod, how do you see technology shaping the future of resume building and career development, and what role does Resumod play in that future?
Rajat Vashishta: Resume building is an essential part of the job search. It’s a filtering document and I don’t see resumes getting out of job search any time. The ideal resume of the future would be a mix of a candidate’s version of himself plus his employment record from all of his previous employers.
That would ideally cut down a lot of screening time and make the process transparent. Other than this, auto screening using chat bots, automated AI interviews, and previous test results – would go a long way into cutting the screening time and selecting the right candidate faster.
For the candidates, if they could somehow connect with people who chose the same journey that the jobseeker is planning to, it would make things easier for them to plan ahead and understand upskilling options. This could be a game changer.
What upcoming features or developments can users expect from Resumod, and how do you plan to continue innovating to meet the evolving needs of job seekers globally?
Rajat Vashishta: We are working on a path-finding model currently. We are also introducing more features in terms of facilitating interviews and helping candidates understand how to crack interviews. On the other side, we are also working with staffing agencies in giving them the right candidates faster through our platform.
What is your success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs
Rajat Vashishta: Young entrepreneurs are very energetic and the eco system is very helpful. Classic advice is to fail fast, however I am a more traditional guy and still believe that any idea can be a success if you stick to it and pivot when needed. So if you are young and starting up, don’t get disheartened if your idea doesn’t click in the first few months.
Less than 1% founders taste early success and the whole media is full of these stories. It doesn’t mean you are a failure. Keep doing your job and you will taste success eventually.
In conclusion, our conversation with Rajat Vashishta has offered a captivating glimpse into the world of Resumod.co and its transformative impact on the way individuals approach resume-building. Rajat’s dedication to enhancing the career prospects of countless individuals is evident in the innovative solutions Resumod.co brings to the table.
As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of professional development, Rajat’s insights serve as a beacon, guiding us toward a future where individuals can confidently present their unique stories through powerful resumes.
We extend our gratitude to Rajat for sharing his time and expertise, leaving us inspired and equipped to navigate the competitive realm of job markets with resilience and strategic finesse.
