9th February 2021 Ahmedabad: An exhibition of photographs taken by noted real estate developer and award-winning town planner NK Patel during his stay in California was inaugurated by CEPT President and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Bimal Patel on Tuesday.
The photographs, taken by Patel in spare time when he was visiting his daughter, depict California’s rich and historic diverse architecture, and the strong influence architectural styles from across the world had over it as people from several other countries settled in California and made it their home.
These people brought with them traditional architectural styles and replicated them in their adopted home land.
“As a developer and town planner, I was very inspired by the diversity of the architecture there.
On one hand, there are skyscrapers, and on the other, there are scores of structures and monuments, some of them dating back centuries, influenced by Spanish, Victorian, and Neo-classical architectural styles. Some of the structures are a classic and rare mix of modern and traditional,” said NK Patel.
The photographs offer practical lessons into ways modern architecture can be combined with traditional architecture, and how both can co-exist.
While they would be of interest to everyone, the exhibition is unmissable for those eyeing a career in architecture and design.
The exhibition will take place at The Art Gallery at Amdavad ni Gufa from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm till February 14. The exhibition will be open for all.
