An interview with Riddhi Jain, Founder & CEO of NeceSera, Everyday Essential Brand built on fabric innovation and intentional design

Riddhi Jain, the visionary Founder and CEO of NeceSera, has spearheaded a revolution in the realm of everyday essentials. Alongside her co-founder Sudiksha Jain, she has championed fabric innovation and intentional design, elevating the mundane into the extraordinary.

NeceSera stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality, functionality, and style. With a burgeoning fanbase spanning across India, Riddhi Jain’s leadership has propelled NeceSera to the forefront of the market, redefining the standards of everyday essentials.

Can you share the inspiration behind starting NeceSera? What motivated you to create an everyday essential brand?

Riddhi jain: NeceSera – derived from ‘necessary’ & ‘sera’ (evening in Italian) aims to build an ecosystem that makes wellness, comfort & self-care a lifestyle through thoughtfully designed clothing. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to addressing lifestyle needs through customer-centric product design through sustainable practices. Our core principles are innovation, quality and a customer-first approach.

We started NeceSera as a response to a personal need. We felt the struggle — either loungewear was too pricey, uncomfortable, or lacked style. And so, our journey began with a simple yet profound mission: to blend affordability, comfort, and style seamlessly, using carefully researched fabrics.

We used our in-house manufacturing facility to bring international quality standards to India and instill sustainability at the grassroots level of garment manufacturing.

NeceSera isn’t just a brand; it’s a lifestyle movement. As we continue to evolve, our focus remains on creating a positive impact, not just in the world of fashion but also in the lives of those we touch. Through innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, we are shaping a future where clothing transcends mere utility, becoming a catalyst for well-being and positive change.

NeceSera focuses on everyday essentials. How do you define and curate the essentials that your brand offers, and what sets them apart in the market?

Riddhi jain: The essentials, we define by understanding the lives of our customers. Most women and women are multitasking in their essentials throughout the day. We have built our product offerings by adding more functionality and new products in different use cases.

What sets us apart is how we strike a balance with the most appropriate fabric for the particular product for eg. Our luxflo travel pants are crease-resistant, durable and extremely soft which really enhances the travel experience. We also make styles for different body types and preferences so everyone can find something for themselves  at NeceSera.

In the competitive market of everyday essentials, what strategies has NeceSera employed to differentiate itself and build a strong brand identity?

Riddhi jain: The most important strategy in any competitive market is a promising product, that does what it says it does. And we are constantly working to create products and fabrics that are functional, long lasting, buttery-soft and make you feel at home.

Can you share some insights into the challenges you’ve faced as a female entrepreneur in the business world, and how you’ve overcome them in building NeceSera?

Riddhi jain: I think the biggest challenge is our own mindset. We tend to undermine our authority. It’s so important to overcome that- we have to realize it is our business, our vision and our management.

NeceSera likely has a diverse customer base. How do you stay connected with your customers and adapt to their changing needs and preferences?

  • This is the most fun part of our work. We get to talk to our customers.
  • We personally do ½ weekly calls with our existing customers and understand their lives and needs
  • This has played a crucial role in our product development process- we are constantly listening and adding categories
  • Pop-ups – physical presence to evaluate people’s response

Collaboration and partnerships can be crucial for business growth. Have there been any notable collaborations or partnerships that have significantly contributed to NeceSera’s success?

Riddhi jain: Influencers have played a pivotal role in our growth and brand awareness. Each influencer has a unique audience and it’s helped us tap into a huge audience

Looking ahead, what is the vision and future roadmap for NeceSera? Are there any exciting developments or new product launches that your customers can look forward to?

Riddhi jain: Our plan for the next 5 years is involves the following :-

  • Innovation: Higher investment in R&D of fabrics to develop new blends, market for more product categories & sustainability practices.
  • Accessibility & Reach: Domestic market growth physically through more shop-in-shops and digitally through marketplaces.
  • Product Categories: we are adding new categories like socks, unisex clothing, maternity clothing and more
  • Impact: Increase up-cycled products, reduce wastage in production and add innovative methods like drip-irrigated cotton, biomass for dyeing, with the goal to eventually become carbon neutral.

What are your success tips for women entrepreneurs

  • Ask – talk to people, and learn from everyone – everyone in every field has something to offer
  • Be open to pivoting – don’t be complacent. Keep your mind open and stay dynamic
  • Stay true to your offering, but keep exploring and learning beyond that. There’s inspiration and ideas everywhere.
