An interview with Ruchi Nayak, Partner at The Catalyst, a leading public relations agency

In this interview, we speak with Ruchi Nayak, Partner at The Catalyst, to explore her insights on strategic partnerships and innovation in today’s dynamic business environment.

With a wealth of experience in driving growth and transformation, Ruchi shares her journey, the challenges she has faced, and her vision for the future of strategic management.

What inspired you to co-found The Catalyst, and what vision do you have for its future?

Ruchi Nayak: My business partner Etienne and I collectively founded The Catalyst during COVID to support homegrown brands that launched in the middle of such challenging times, providing them with the visibility and influence they needed to grow.

What started as a passion project to uplift bootstrapped brands has evolved into a dynamic agency where we are shaping the future of luxury, beauty, and lifestyle through strategic storytelling and culture-defining moments.

In your opinion, what role does storytelling play in shaping brands today?

Ruchi Nayak: Storytelling is the core of brand-building; it transforms products into experiences and creates connections that drive loyalty.

Today, authenticity, narrative-driven and experience based engagement are more powerful than ever in shaping consumer perception and desirability.

With the surge of new brand launches, consumers seek relatability, making meaningful connections that are essential for standing out.

How do you stay innovative in a rapidly changing market?

Ruchi Nayak: Innovation comes from staying ahead of cultural shifts, and constantly reimagining how brands engage with their audiences. We learn through trendspotting, and collaborations that push creative boundaries.

In PR one size doesn’t fit all and hence, we tailor-make strategies for brands based on their need and ensuring their messaging reaches the right audience.

Can you discuss a project or initiative at The Catalyst that you are particularly proud of?

Ruchi Nayak: One of our most exciting projects was the launch of a global makeup brand in India, where we crafted an exclusive, high-energy experience that dominated social media and created massive FOMO.

We saw this translating via —organic engagement, press buzz, and brand love—it was incredibly rewarding.

How do you balance your professional responsibilities with personal life?

Ruchi Nayak: Balance is about setting clear boundaries with my time—knowing when to lead, when to delegate, and when to unplug. I prioritize quality over quantity in both work and personal as that’s the only way to stay present and energized in life.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to make an impact in their industries?

Ruchi Nayak: Build with passion, resilience, and a clear brand philosophy—your vision needs to be distinct.

Relationships are everything, so nurture them, and never underestimate the power of showing up and delivering beyond expectations. Lastly, be consistent and do not follow trends rather create your niche.

Ruchi Nayak’s perspectives illuminate the critical role of collaboration in achieving success. Her commitment to fostering innovation and strategic partnerships serves as an inspiration for aspiring leaders in the business world.
