Runki Goswami, an Indian classical singer and composer
‘Woman of all Seasons’ Runki Goswami has travelled many a long road. She has charted out a successful professional career path in the IT industry and, at the same time, embarked on a melodious journey exploring the joys and passion of Classical and Global music, shooting her way to semi-stardom on the national and international stage.
Even with her busy and demanding schedule as Chief Marketing Officer in the B2B IT World, , she has found time to pursue her first love—music—with unmatched zeal and fervor.
Runki’s Love for Music
Music connoisseur Runki Goswami is a well-known name in Indian Classical music. She also sings country, contemporary folk, modern and Bollywood songs in 17 different Indian languages.
Born in Asansol, West Bengal, Runki started her formal training in music at the age of 3 years. She is trained in the ‘Dilli’ and Chandigarh gharanas from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti.
Creating a legacy of music as an antidote to diseases, she has also been actively working in reviving raga therapy to heal patients with diseases such as asthma, spine issues and stomach problems etc.
Runki Goswami started her professional music career with a self-composed Bengali devotional album, Debobeena.
The lyrics of this album were written by her father, Dr Malay Kumar Laik. Runki composed and directed the music and also lent her voice to it.
The album was released pan-India by Keerthana Music. Following this, she was music director for two Telugu films, Thedavaste Fighter (Writer) and Trivikraman.
In 2018, Runki Goswami represented India at the Indian High Commission stage in London. She is a regular performer on the national and internal podium.
Some of the best known performances have included Tribute to Geeta Dutt (India Habitat Centre, 2016), Tribute to Farida Khanum (Epicentre, Gurgaon, Haryana, 2016), Heirloom Collection of Indian Folk (India International Centre, 2017), Tribute to Salil Choudhury, (India Habitat Centre, 2017), Tribute to OP Nayyar (India Habitat Centre, 2018) and Ragas to Depict Moods and Seasons in Bollywood (India Habitat Centre, 2019).
Runki Goswami, The Author
Adding a new feather to her cap, Runki—who is also a doting mother and a beautiful wife—launched her first book, A World Full of Babies, in 2022.
The book speaks about Runki’s passion for music and its impact on her life. As explained in her book, Indian music teaches about ‘togetherness’ and ‘healing with music’ and the fact that frequencies and wavelengths of sounds extract feelings and emotional responses from the conscious and subconscious minds.
Her book takes a deep dive into the history of Indian classical music to the elements that make all lore folksy and its connection with occult.
The book is not just about Indian classical music, but also talks about other Regional, Pop/Rock and Contemporary music. A World Full of Babies is available at the Crossword Bookstore and also online at Amazon.
Runki Goswami’s Early Life
Runki has held several leadership roles in leading IT companies, like Coforge, Wipro, Accenture, IBM and Microsoft, among several other organizations.
She holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Ranchi University. She also has an Executive Management degree from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Runki Goswami did her graduation in English (Honours) from Ranchi University. Earlier, she completed her schooling from Loreto Convent.
