Global NCAP has been actively advocating the adoption of safer cars in India to reduce fatalities. Under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign, this UK-based agency gives a safety risk rating to the vehicles sold in the Indian market.
The Global NCAP usually tests the base variant, but the automobile manufacturers can send a higher-spec model for crash test rating. Read the list of the safest cars in India under Rs 10 lakhs.
Tata Punch Safest car
Tata Punch is the safest car under Rs 10 lakh in the country. In the Global NCAP test, the car earned a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and four stars for child occupant protection.
Tata Punch achieved 16.45 out of 17 points for adult occupant safety and 40.89 out of 49 points in the child occupant protection category. Tata Punch price starts from Rs 5.99 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Mahindra XUV 300 Safest car
Mahindra XUV300 price starts from Rs 8.42 lakh to Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India). According to Global NCAP, the 5-seater SUV achieved a 5-star for adult occupant protection and a 4-star for child occupant protection.
Moving to details, the XUV300 scored an impressive 16.42 out of 17 points for adult occupant safety. On the other hand, it earned 37.44 out of 49 points in the child occupant protection category.
Tata Altroz Safest car
Tata Altroz prices start at Rs. 6.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and the only hatchback in the list of the safest cars under Rs 10 lakhs. It earned the maximum 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test.
The hatchback scored 16.13 out of 17 points in adult occupant protection while scoring 29 out of 49 points in child occupant protection.
Tata Nexon Safest car
Tata has another entry with Nexon in the safest cars under Rs 10 lakhs. The sub-compact SUV became the first made-in-India model to earn a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP testing back in 2018.
Tata Nexon achieved a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and a 3-star rating for child occupant protection.
Nexon got 16.06 points out of 17 in adult protection and 25 points out of 49 in child occupant protection. The Tata Nexon price starts from Rs 7.80 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Nissan Magnite Safest car
Nissan Magnite is one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs and the safest in the Indian market. It scored four-star for adult occupant protection and two-star for child occupant protection in the Global NCAP (GNCAP) test.
The Nissan Magnite scored 11.85 points on a maximum of 17 points while earning a score of 24.88 out of a maximum of 49 points. The 5-seater SUV retails at a starting price of Rs. 5.97 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
