As part of this endeavour, we invited yet another passionate entrepreneur Salman Lakhani, CEO of Cubix for an exclusive interview with us.
Tell us a little about yourself
I have been in this industry for the past 20 years. I had a keen interest in technology from a young age, and so I pursued an education aligned with my interest. I graduated from Staffordshire in the field of Computing.
Apart from this, I also belong to a business family within the Gujrati community that is known for business; I saw my family members engaged in various types of businesses, often running medium or small-sized businesses.
Please tell us a little about your entrepreneurial journey
Salman Lakhani: For the first 4 to 5 years of my career, I worked for companies that were primarily in the US. During this time, I identified a gap between the US market and the Pakistani market. I then proceeded to develop a platform through which we could serve US customers with development services.
Kindly brief us about Cubix, its specialization, and the services that it offers
Salman Lakhani: Cubix is a full-stack software product development company that builds solutions based on the latest technologies, such as blockchain tech, NFT game development, AR, VR, AI, ML, Mobile App Development and related services that are geared toward the demands of an advanced tech-driven world.
What is your biggest USP
Salman Lakhani: Honesty and Integrity. Cubix, as a brand, is built on trust. If there’s any reason why Cubix is different, it’s because of our intent; our core values and our intrinsic values are about honesty, integrity, transparency, and similar defining words, which is why customers trust us. We cannot compromise on these values.
What made you choose this type of business?
Salman Lakhani: I was fascinated with computer technology from an early age. During my younger days, I was gifted a book on computing, and since then, it became my world.
What was your mission and vision at the outset?
Salman Lakhani: To start small and progress steadily.
What is your Leadership Mantra
Salman Lakhani: Hire smart people; hire people smarter than yourself.
What’s your company’s goals?
Salman Lakhani: To offer solutions through technology.
What was the inspiration behind turning an entrepreneur?
Salman Lakhani: I also belong to a business family within the Gujrati community that is known for business; I saw my family members engaged in various types of businesses, often running medium or small-sized businesses. Doing business is something that’s in my blood.
What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
Salman Lakhani: Most failures are in the shape of miscalculations. And failures are don’ts. You use them to do something different or better next time and learn from them.
Key things to consider before starting a Business
Salman Lakhani: Discussion, brainstorming, and execution. You must brainstorm with the people you believe can give you productive advice.
To be an entrepreneur, I believe you must have some solution to a problem. Apart from this, you need to have good people on your team.
What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made?
Salman Lakhani: Trusting the wrong people. But I still have to trust people. There will always be a few that let you down.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Salman Lakhani: Be ready to bear all kinds of hardships and apparent roadblocks.
