An interview with Ms. Sanamdeep Chadha, Education Reformist and Director of Genesis Global School, Noida

In this engaging interview, we speak with Ms. Sanamdeep Chadha, an education reformist and the visionary Director of Genesis Global School, Noida.

With a passion for transforming education, she shares her approach to creating an innovative learning environment and her efforts to shape the future of education in India.

What are the key reforms needed in the school education system to empower students with skilled individuals rather than just world-class students?

Sanamdeep Chadha: To transform the school education system into one that empowers students as skilled individuals rather than just world-class students, several key reforms are necessary.

These reforms should focus on fostering not only academic excellence but also practical skills, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and creativity. A holistic approach to education is needed with an emphasis on skill development.

Using project based and experiential learning, there is a need to foster innovation and creativity too. By giving global perspective and cultural competence to the students we will be able to prepare the students for the future.

Parental and Community involvement in education will lead towards an inclusive education, with students being more empathetic towards the needs of the society and therefore more evolved emotionally.

Along with these, focus must be on teacher training and professional development so that the teachers can cater to the needs of the students.

Moreover, a reform in assessment, with the help of AI will leave the teachers with more time to spend in lessons rather than being occupied in monotonous work of evaluation.

By implementing these reforms, the education system can move beyond merely preparing students to perform well academically. Instead, it can empower students with the skills, mindset, and experiences needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

How do you think developing soft skills can empower children to thrive in today’s world, especially with the increasing role of AI and automation?

Sanamdeep Chadha: In today’s rapidly changing world, where AI and automation are reshaping industries and job markets, developing soft skills is more critical than ever.

While technical skills and knowledge are vital, soft skills are what will truly empower children to thrive in this new era. They teach students adaptability, resilience, collaboration and teamwork.

As they apply critical thinking and problem-solving attitude, the students develop better decision-making skills enabling them to become better leaders in the future.

Through self-motivation and initiative taking approach students develop ethical judgement and responsibility too.

The students also develop communication skills along with creativity, innovation, empathy and emotional intelligence. This over all exposure results in students who know their culture, are rooted yet they are students who are aware of global trends.

As AI and automation continue to evolve, soft skills will be the defining factors that separate those who thrive from those who struggle.

By developing adaptability, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and empathy, children will be prepared to lead, innovate, and navigate the complexities of an increasingly automated world.

While machines can take over tasks, it’s the uniquely human qualities—soft skills—that will empower individuals to adapt, collaborate, and continue to add value in ways that technology cannot.

What inspired you to adopt a community-centric education model at Genesis Global School, and how does it reflect in the school’s curriculum and daily activities?

Sanamdeep Chadha: At Genesis Global School (GGS), the adoption of a community-centric education model is inspired by the belief that education is not just about academic excellence but also about fostering a sense of belonging, responsibility, and interconnectedness among students, staff, and the broader community.

This approach reflects a deep commitment to holistic development — one that nurtures both intellectual growth and social-emotional well-being.

As a core philosophy, the school recognizes that a strong, supportive community is essential for nurturing well-rounded individuals who are equipped to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

By embedding a community-centric model into the educational framework, GGS emphasizes the importance of collaboration, empathy, and social responsibility.

This philosophy extends beyond the classroom and encourages students to view themselves as active participants in their communities — both local and global.

The curriculum at GGS integrates community engagement and social responsibility across various disciplines. This is reflected in Project-based Learning (PBL), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Service Learning and Interdisciplinary Approach.

Dedicated classes for each of these ensures that students are in sync with the needs of the times and ready for the future.

Community building at GGS is not confined to the curriculum but is embedded into the school’s daily life as we have Inclusive Practices, Student Leadership events and School-Community Partnerships to make the right impact. From the campus of GGS, the endeavour is to create students who have a global perspective.

In your opinion, how can schools adapt their teaching methods and curricula to better align with the demands of the rapidly changing world?

Sanamdeep Chadha: Adapting teaching methods and curricula to better align with the demands of a rapidly changing world requires a shift from traditional, rigid education models to more flexible, dynamic, and student-centered approaches.

The key is to prepare students not just with specific knowledge but with the skills and mindsets that will allow them to thrive in a world characterized by uncertainty, technological disruption, and global interconnectedness.

Schools can achieve this alignment by including activities that will be a requirement in the future. By creating collaborative environments, schools can foster creativity, innovation, emphasize on SEL, critical thinking and problem solving.

Through interdisciplinary learning schools must cultivate digital literacy and technological skills. These personalized learning paths can be built through global competence and cultural awareness.

To truly align with the demands of the rapidly changing world, schools must move beyond traditional teaching methods and curricula that focus solely on content delivery.

Instead, they must embrace a holistic, flexible, and future-oriented approach that equips students not only with knowledge but with the skills, attitudes, and resilience needed to navigate an unpredictable world.

This means fostering critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, digital literacy, and global competence — all of which will empower students to thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected global landscape.

As a leader in education, what do you believe are the key priorities for schools in India to align with the evolving demands of the global workforce and society?

Sanamdeep Chadha: As a leader in education, I believe that schools in India must prioritize several key areas to align with the evolving demands of the global workforce and society. India’s education system, with its rich diversity and historical significance, is at a pivotal moment.

To remain competitive and relevant on the global stage, schools must foster a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking approach to education that prepares students not only for today’s challenges but also for the uncertainties and opportunities of tomorrow.

Apart from focusing on students, there is a need to empower the teachers through professional development workshops.

As we reimagine assessment and grading to include both quantitative and qualitative analysis of their work. Also, strengthening industry partnerships and vocational education will be a step towards skill-based education that is the need of the hour.

To align with the evolving demands of the global workforce and society, schools in India must embrace an education model that values critical thinking, creativity, digital fluency, global citizenship, emotional intelligence, and practical skills.

These priorities are not only about preparing students for specific jobs but about equipping them with the mindsets, abilities, and values to thrive in a rapidly changing, interconnected world.

By adopting a more flexible, dynamic, and student-centered approach, India’s schools can ensure that students are ready to face the challenges and opportunities of the future with confidence and resilience.

Ms. Sanamdeep Chadha’s dedication to reimagining education continues to inspire educators and students alike. Through her leadership at Genesis Global School, she is paving the way for a new era of learning, one that emphasizes creativity, inclusivity, and holistic development.
