As part of this endeavour, we invited yet another Women entrepreneur Sanchi Sehgal, co-founder of Ozone Pharmaceuticals Ltd for an exclusive interview with us.

Tell us a little about yourself

Sanchi Sehgal: I have always been an eager learner. I enjoy understanding different perspectives and enriching my world views.

I attended the University of York to study Sociology and Social Psychology, followed by a legal education (LLB and LLM).

My education taught me the process of acquiring new skills and actually using the information as knowledge.

I have always been interested in skincare anatomy and formulation chemistry, applying my process of learning in personal care, I started Ozone Signature Range.

Please tell us a little about your entrepreneurial journey

Sanchi Sehgal: After my legal education, I gained a fresh perspective on learning – most importantly converting information I have into knowledge and further knowledge into communication.

I used this attribute to gather the Ozone Signature range and creatively deliver it to the skincare market – with a consumer-oriented, fresh outlook.

What products do you offer at Ozone Signature?

Sanchi Sehgal: Ozone Signature Range offers a range of skin, body, and hair care products that are formulated to target specific skin, hair, and body concerns.

These formulations are made with extensive research and development to maintain quality, efficacy, and stability.

What is unique about your Ozone Signature brand?

Sanchi Sehgal: At Ozone Signature, we keep skin concerns and skin anatomy at the forefront. Having an expansive Pharmaceutical as well as research and development infrastructure, we develop effective formulations to target specific skin concerns.

Our biggest strength comes from our Pharmaceutical background. Our parent company, Ozone Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical company in India gives us the infrastructure to not just bring natural, organic, products, but actually back it with science and modern-day research.

We are able to test these formulations for their potency and stability. These products are internationally dermatologically tested. So Ozone Signature Range is founded on tradition, but it’s validated with science.

What made you choose this type of business?

Sanchi Sehgal: I have always been passionate about skincare chemistry, what goes into making a formulation, and the difference between ‘marketing gimmicks’ and effective formulations.

Moreover, growing up, I always had problematic skin! Therefore I wanted to bring something to the market with the infrastructure I have to deliver high-performance skincare that treated skin concerns.

What was your mission and vision at the outset?

Sanchi Sehgal: Our mission at Ozone Signature is to reach as many people to spread skin positivity and awareness. We often forget that the skin is our largest organ, and it is an intelligent mechanism that is self-sustaining.

With Ozone Signature we want to bring awareness about skin concerns and how to support your skin’s own function in treating skin concerns.

How many employees in your organization?

Sanchi Sehgal: Ozone Group of Companies has over 2500 members.

What’s your company’s goals?

Sanchi Sehgal: Our Company goal is to “Add years to life.. and life to years”. We make quality, economic and safe prescription medicines to add years to peoples’ lives. We add life to those years by adding value to the lives of our consumers, associates and employees.

What was the inspiration behind turning an entrepreneur

Sanchi Sehgal: Being an entrepreneur enables one to impact many lives through creating an ecosystem. Moreover, Ozone Signature gave me an opportunity to work on something I am passionate about and creatively offer it to the public.

What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Sanchi Sehgal: As an entrepreneur we naturally become protective of our vision and brand. I had a similar experience, I learnt the hard way that there could be a difference between what you would like your brand to be and how people actually consume it.

It is immensely important to be mindful of that, listen to what your consumers have to say, especially what you are trying to convey and how they perceive it. Listen to your audience, be mindful of them and scale your work accordingly in a data-driven manner.

Key things to consider before starting a startup

Sanchi Sehgal: When starting with a clean slate it is essential to build a strong foundation that is able to scale your business.

My advise would be to enable an infrastructure of learning through data gathered, and growing accordingly.

List out your purpose before starting an initiative, review your results periodically and gather insight into how to effectively and efficiently reach your purpose.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Your success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs

Sanchi Sehgal: Nothing can replace hard work! But also, there are some things one only grasps with experience. So keep an open mind, look out for learning opportunities in your failures and implement the learnings to become a better version of yourself everyday!
