An interview with Shriram Sonawane, founder of Enroot Cosmetics, Luxury Cosmetics Brand
In this interview, we speak with Shriram Sonawane, the visionary founder of Enroot Cosmetics. With a passion for sustainable beauty and a commitment to natural ingredients, Shriram shares his journey of creating a brand that resonates with eco-conscious consumers and challenges industry norms.
Shriram Sonawane is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical devices sectors.
He has expertise in sales, marketing, and business management. Currently focused on the beauty industry, Shriram aims to deliver high-quality products, driven by his mantra: “Think It, Start It, and Keep Doing it”
What motivated you to transition from pharmaceuticals and medical devices to the beauty industry, and how has your background influenced your approach at Enroot?
Shriram Sonawane: My experience in pharmaceuticals and medical devices gave me a deep understanding of science-backed formulations, quality control, and regulatory standards. I noticed a gap in the beauty industry—many brands made big claims but lacked real efficacy.
Enroot was born from the idea of bridging the gap between beauty and science, offering premium, research-driven skincare and haircare solutions that truly deliver results.
Enroot places a strong emphasis on quality and research. How do you ensure that every product you create lives up to these principles?
Shriram Sonawane: We prioritize rigorous research, clinical testing, and ingredient transparency. Every Enroot product undergoes thorough dermatological testing and is formulated with a balance of natural and clinically proven active ingredients.
Our R&D team continuously innovates to ensure our formulas are not only safe but also deliver measurable improvements in skin and hair health.
You’ve mentioned the gap between beauty brands’ promises and actual results. How does Enroot address this issue in terms of product formulation and consumer trust?
Shriram Sonawane: Many brands focus on marketing-driven promises rather than real impact. At Enroot, we focus on efficacy first. We use scientifically backed natural ingredients and avoid misleading claims.
Our formulations are backed by research, and we provide real customer testimonials, visible results, and complete ingredient transparency to build trust.
What makes Enroot’s commitment to “Clean Beauty” stand out, and why is it so important for today’s consumers?
Shriram Sonawane: Clean beauty is often a buzzword, but at Enroot, we truly embrace it. We ensure our products are free from sulfates, silicones, parabens, artificial fragrances, and harsh chemicals.
Instead, we rely on natural herb extracts, cold-pressed oils, and skin-friendly actives that nourish rather than harm. Today’s consumers are more aware and demand products that are safe, ethical, and results-driven, which is exactly what we deliver.
Can you share more about the sourcing and ethical practices behind Enroot’s use of natural ingredients, and how this sets your products apart from others on the market?
Shriram Sonawane: We source our ingredients sustainably and ethically, working with trusted suppliers who practice eco-friendly harvesting.
Many of our key ingredients—like onion, hibiscus, neem, rose petals, and coffee—are sourced directly from farms where quality is controlled at every step. This commitment ensures pure, potent formulations while also supporting sustainable agriculture.
Why is it important for Enroot to be free from harmful chemicals like sulfates and silicones, and how do these choices impact the effectiveness of your products?
Shriram Sonawane: Sulfates strip away natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation, while silicones create a false sense of smoothness but build up over time, damaging hair and skin.
By eliminating these chemicals, Enroot products nourish, repair, and strengthen naturally. Our formulations work with the body’s natural balance, offering long-term health rather than temporary fixes.
What role do you believe Enroot can play in the wider shift toward sustainability and ethics within the beauty industry?
Shriram Sonawane: Sustainability is not just a trend—it’s a responsibility. At Enroot, we are committed to eco-friendly packaging, biodegradable ingredients, cruelty-free testing, and supporting reforestation initiatives.
Through our association with Shamkanti Social Foundation, we contribute to orphan support programs and tree plantation drives, ensuring our impact extends beyond beauty.
Looking ahead, what can consumers expect from Enroot in the coming years, both in terms of product offerings and your brand’s continued mission?
Shriram Sonawane: We’re constantly innovating. In the near future, we plan to expand into customized skincare solutions, luxury serums, and holistic wellness products.
Additionally, we will enhance our sustainability initiatives with eco-friendly packaging innovations and a stronger commitment to social responsibility. Enroot will continue to redefine luxury beauty with honesty, efficacy, and sustainability at its core.
As we conclude our conversation, Shriram emphasizes the importance of innovation and responsibility in the cosmetics industry. His insights inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs to prioritize sustainability while pursuing their dreams.
