Local electric two-wheeler manufacturer Simple Energy has announced that deliveries of its flagship ‘Simple One’ e-scooter have been delayed to the March 2023 quarter.
According to the company, the reason for the delay is due to recent government guidelines. about battery safety.
Simple Energy claims that the reason behind its latest delivery delay is new battery safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), adding that this delay would allow the company to ensure that its scooter electric complies with the new safety standards.
Interestingly, this is Simple Energy’s third delay. Deliveries from the Bangalore-based startup were initially delayed from December 2021 to June 2022 and then from June to September 2022.
Additionally, the company had also previously cited safety reasons for its previous delay announced in May 2022.
The company, at the time, stated, “Considering safety standards and recent incidents in the electric vehicle industry, Simple took a conscious call to defer deliveries of the One.”
