Sufiyan Rao’s Journey: From a Quiet Town to Leading a Global Tech Revolution.

Sufiyan Rao

An interview with Sufiyan Rao, founder and CEO of Brain Inventory, , a full-service IT and software development company in Indore

Sufiyan Rao is not just the founder of a successful IT company—he’s the embodiment of what it means to rise from humble beginnings and build a global vision brick by brick. Hailing from Khachrod, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, his journey from a mechanical engineering student to the founder and CEO of Brain Inventory is an inspiring tale of resilience, clarity, and courage.

His entrepreneurial journey began in 2011, not in tech, but in automobiles. He launched his first venture, Your Garage, an innovative doorstep car servicing startup. It was a bold experiment that succeeded, allowing Sufiyan to sell the company at a profitable margin after two years.

But more than the profit, the experience honed his skills in management, operations, and entrepreneurship.

In 2019, guided by a new vision and deep industry insight, Sufiyan founded Brain Inventory—a software development and IT solutions company headquartered in Indore.

Starting with a team of just 60 handpicked professionals, Brain Inventory quickly set itself apart with its uncompromising approach to quality, communication, and timely project delivery.

Under his leadership, Brain Inventory has delivered 90+ successful projects, with 10+ securing angel or venture capital and 2 reaching Series C funding.

These numbers reflect more than growth—they showcase trust, consistency, and execution excellence. The company today serves clients across four countries and continues to expand its global footprint.

What makes Brain Inventory stand out is its core philosophy—to be a company that always delivers on time, every time. In an industry often criticized for delays and scope misalignment, this focus on timeliness, discipline, and value delivery has helped Brain Inventory win not just clients, but long-term partners.

Sufiyan is deeply inspired by Ratan Tata, not only for his business acumen but also for his values. He admires Tata’s selfless leadership and the quiet strength with which he built a legacy.

This has greatly influenced Sufiyan’s own leadership style—humble, purpose-driven, and people-centric. His personal mantra, “I am unstoppable,” is more than just motivation—it’s a mindset that fuels his daily commitment to excellence.

Beyond business, he’s passionate about giving back. Sufiyan regularly participates in seminars, job fairs, and mentoring sessions, guiding fresh graduates on how to bridge the gap between education and employment. He emphasizes the need to learn industry-specific communication and adapt one’s mindset for long-term success.

He believes Gen Z has the potential to lead India’s digital future, thanks to their tech-savviness. But he insists that using tech alone isn’t enough—youngsters must think like creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs. According to him, building a business that solves real problems is far more impactful than simply getting a job.

Today, Brain Inventory continues to grow as a symbol of trust, speed, and innovation. But for Sufiyan Rao, this is only the beginning.

His dream is to make Brain Inventory a globally recognized name—not just for its technology, but for its values, its people, and its impact.

What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Sufiyan Rao: In the early days, I faced challenges like poor delegation, hiring based on degrees instead of skills, and unclear communication with clients. These mistakes taught me:

  • Clarity and alignment are essential—never compromise on scoping and expectations.
  • Skills matter more than degrees—we now focus on real capabilities, not resumes.
  • Time is a non-negotiable asset—on-time delivery builds reputation and trust. Each setback refined my strategies and helped me scale Brain Inventory with more resilience.

What was the inspiration behind turning an entrepreneur or Startup?

Sufiyan Rao: I’ve always had the desire to create—not just consume. After successfully exiting my automobile startup, I realized I was ready for something bigger. I saw a major gap in the IT industry—clients were frustrated with poor communication and missed deadlines.

I wanted to build a company that fixed this. That desire to build something scalable, global, and impactful became the foundation of Brain Inventory.
