Suhail Sameer Was A Drain: A Poem By Former Co-founder Ashnir Grover After BharatPe CEO Quit

January 6, 2023: New Delhi: Ashneer Grover, former co-founder of BharatPay, took a jibe at Suhail Sameer, who resigned as CEO of the fintech on Tuesday, January 3.

On Sameer’s resignation, BharatPe announced that he will shift from Chief Executive Officer to Strategic Advisor from January 7. 2023.

Grover, who was also a judge in Season 1 of Shark Tank India, found a unique way to pit the company, its founder Shashwat Nakrani and Sameer.

The entrepreneur writes a poem in which he describes Sameer as “Nalla”, who is incompetent, while asking Nakrani to take over the business.

Shashwat – why don’t you man stand up and take care of your throat?!’

To my English speaking friends: 1) Nala (useless) is incompetent / incompetent and 2) Galla is at the helm of business / affairs,” the ousted co-founder of the fintech unicorn tweeted on Tuesday evening.

BharatPe CEO Sameer will be replaced by CFO Nalin Negi who will take over as interim CEO. “This will ensure a smooth transition for current CFO, Nalin Negi, who has been appointed interim CEO to partner with senior executives to drive execution across all phases of the company’s business,” the fintech said in a statement.

Commenting on the development, Rajnish Kumar, Chairman of the BharatPay Board, said, “They recognize the need to dedicate time and resources to finding a leader who will continue to take BharatPay to new heights, and we are grateful for Suhail and Nalin’s commitment.”

“We look forward to supporting Nalin Negi in his role as Interim-CEO as we continue our mission to empower millions of MSMEs with a range of world-class financial products,” said Kumar.

Meanwhile, the four-year-old fintech has been mired in controversy since early 2022 when an audio clip of its former co-founder Grover was leaked in which he was heard using foul language while talking to a Kotak Group employee.

He and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover were later expelled from the company on charges of misappropriation of funds.

The BharatPe board stripped Grover of all titles and positions for his alleged “misdeeds”. It said the final findings of the internal governance review had found Grover and his family members guilty of fraud.
