Shweta did her primary education from Allahabad. After that, she did her senior school education from Patna.

Later, Sweta enrolled at Patna University, Shweta graduated from Patna Women’s College with a degree in Mass Communication.

In those days, the graduation in mass communication at Patna University was done in five years. The Patna Women’s College had autonomy in the mass communication course. The University Grants Commission (UGC) started giving autonomy during that time.

Because of this, the journalism course was done in three years only. Sweta did not want to do journalism.

She got an opportunity to work as a journalist, while she was in the 1st year of her graduation.

She started her journalism career from her college days. First, she worked for The Times of India Patna edition. Then she joined Hindustan Times. She worked there for some time.

After, she moved to Delhi to build her career in media. Sweta worked as a news reader/anchor in Sahara News and then Zee News.

Finally, in 2002, she moved to Aaj Tak. Later, Sweta Singh was promoted as an executive editor. Since then she is working for Aaj Tak.  

In addition to this, she has also worked as an Aaj Tak news correspondent in a few films including Chak De India and Chakravyuh. Currently, she is one of the top news anchors of India.

She is known for her expertise in covering sports-related news. In 2005, sweta’s sport show “Sourav Ka Sixer” won the award for Best Sports Program by Sports Journalism Federation of India.

Shweta also did the history program of Patliputra during the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, 2015. In The Kapil Sharma Show, Sweta revealed that she wanted to become a film director.
