When selecting the right crockery, there are some factors that you need to consider first.

The shape of your dishes and dinnerware is also important. The shape helps determine the kind of food they can hold or adhere to certain culinary and cultural food traditions. For example, most servers use medium-sized bowls for plating when making Japanese rice meal viands such as katsudon and oyakodon. 

Decorative elements like patterns or colors are also considerations for your dinnerware. They can add life to a table and enhance the ambiance, even. As such, it may be better to stick to simpler designs. 

The Difference Between Crockery and Cutlery

What separates crockery/dinnerware and cutlery are their uses and their scope. Cutlery is generally used to slice and prepare food, while you use crockery to serve food. 

Knives, forks, spoons, and other kitchen utensils and preparation tools are part of the cutlery. Meanwhile, pots and dishes are included in the scope of crockery.
