The teaching style improved academics and boosted my confidence

Charkhi Dadri

The teachers of this school made learning engaging and enjoyable,’ says an alumnus of Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri

By Abhilasha Munjal: An entrepreneur and Founder of Mudgar Club whose journey began with yoga and evolved into a unique fitness and craftsmanship venture.

After completing his schooling at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, he pursued yoga professionally before launching his start-up in Dehradun.

Seeking a more physically engaging path, he explored traditional practices, eventually delving into woodworking and product development.

His dedication led him to Shark Tank, where he secured ₹50 lakh for 12.5% equity. Passionate about movement, he emphasises consistency over rigid routines, embracing an active lifestyle. Meet Anjit Suhag.

In a candid interview, he shares his journey – from school to being an entrepreneur.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

After completing my Class XII from Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, I pursued an internship in Delhi, where I got into yoga. This led me to become a freelance yoga teacher. When COVID-19 hit, I returned home but later moved to Dehra Dun during the second wave.

There, I launched a small yoga start-up, which I ran for a year before realising I wanted to pursue something more physically engaging.

I then discovered a new practice, began learning, and eventually started teaching it, leveraging my yoga teaching experience.

After six months, I saw a market opportunity in products, leading me to research wood, its properties, and woodworking. This passion for crafting eventually led me to establish my club, combining my skills and entrepreneurial vision.

How do you think your early education has helped with this entrepreneurial mindset?

I joined Apeejay School in Class XI, having previously studied in schools where Hindi was the language; communication was not in English. Wanting a better educational environment, I sought a school where I could improve my English and overall communication skills.

Apeejay School provided the structured learning and exposure I needed to enhance my speaking abilities and broaden my academic perspective, setting the foundation for my personal and professional growth.

What was the best thing about the school?

The teachers are highly educated, experienced, and incredibly supportive. They made learning engaging and enjoyable, creating a positive environment for students.

Their expertise and teaching style not only enhanced our academic understanding but also encouraged personal growth and confidence.

How does Mudgar training’s purpose of medical practice differ?

In many practices, we develop poor posture, stiffness, and limited range of motion. The purpose of this practice is to enhance movement and flexibility, providing long-term benefits beyond the gym.

Unlike traditional workouts that focus on muscle growth, this practice promotes freedom in the body without stiffness.

It complements other disciplines like yoga, gym workouts, Zumba, Pilates, and even emerging activities like pickleball. Ultimately, it’s a dynamic approach to movement, offering both functional strength and overall well-being.

How was your experience in Shark Tank?

It was an amazing experience. I randomly received a message on Instagram from a girl who encouraged me to apply for the audition. She mentioned she was from the team and that Season 4 auditions were ongoing.

After a brief conversation, she sent me the application form. I filled it out, then completed the second stage. For the third stage, we had to travel to Mumbai for an in-person audition conducted by the team. If selected, we would return to Mumbai for the final shoot and rehearsals.

The experience was incredible. I was amazed by the team’s dedication, working nonstop from 6 am to midnight with minimal breaks. They guided us through everything — from TV protocols to wardrobe choices. Ultimately, we secured ₹50 lakh for 12.5% equity.

Do you think this pitch will help you with more profit and sales?

Google searches for this practice have increased tenfold since the beginning. Surprisingly, most inquiries on our website come not just from India but also from countries like Canada, Australia, Sweden, Scotland, and even Japan. Given this growing interest, there’s a strong chance that in five to seven years, this practice — and I — will be widely recognised.

What’s your fitness routine?

I keep my practice simple, limiting it to just 30 minutes a day, focusing on mudra. Additionally, at regular intervals, I do 30 push-ups, 30 squats, and drink a glass of water.

I do this six times a day, and keeps me active. Rather than following a strict workout routine, I prefer staying consistently active throughout the day, maintaining balance in my way.
