In a candid telephonic conversation, Achin graciously shared insights into his remarkable journey from school days to becoming a successful entrepreneur and winner of the esteemed game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Let’s delve into the intriguing conversation:

Can you tell us about your educational background and journey after Apeejay School?

Achin Narula: I graduated from Apeejay School, Pitampura in 2004, following which I pursued BCA and later completed my MBA from IMT Ghaziabad. Initially, I worked as a marketing and sales manager in the real estate sector before venturing into entrepreneurship.

You had a remarkable journey on “Kaun Banega Crorepati.” Could you share some highlights from your experience on the show?

Achin Narula: Participating in “Kaun Banega Crorepati” was a lifelong dream, and after several attempts, I finally made it onto the hot seat. The adrenaline rush of being on national television, coupled with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan‘s aura, made it a thrilling experience.

Despite facing tough questions, strategic lifeline usage, and the pressure of the spotlight, my brother and I managed to win 7 crores, a significant achievement that exceeded our expectations.

How did your time at Apeejay School contribute to your success on the show and in your entrepreneurial endeavours?

Achin Narula: Apeejay School instilled in me values, traditions, and a holistic approach to education. Participation in extracurricular activities like quizzes, debates, and sports honed my skills and taught me to remain composed under pressure.

These experiences were instrumental in my success on “Kaun Banega Crorepati” and continue to guide me in my entrepreneurial journey.

You mentioned your involvement in various extracurricular activities during your school days. How did these activities shape your personality?

Achin Narula: Engaging in debates, quizzes, sports, and even street plays fostered confidence, resilience, and the ability to thrive in competitive environments. These activities taught me the importance of practise, dedication, and learning from both successes and failures. They instilled in me a sense of discipline and prepared me to face challenges head-on.

Transitioning from your corporate job to entrepreneurship, particularly in the café industry, how did you navigate this change?

Achin Narula: My transition to entrepreneurship, particularly in the café industry, was driven by my passion for food and the desire to explore new ventures.

I strategically invested in café franchises, leveraging my background in real estate and business acumen. While the COVID-19 pandemic posed challenges, I remain optimistic about the gradual recovery of the business.

What advice would you offer to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those considering ventures in the food industry?

Achin Narula: Entrepreneurship demands calculated risks, dedication, and adaptability. Before venturing into any business, conduct thorough research, assess market trends, and be prepared to navigate uncertainties.

Remember that failures are part of the journey; learn from them and stay resilient. Above all, follow your passion and stay committed to your goals.

Achin Narula: To current students and alumni of Apeejay School, I emphasise the importance of embracing opportunities, pursuing passions, and continuously learning and evolving.
