Lakshmi Mittal – Indian Steel Magnate:
Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is an Indian entrepreneur and the chairperson and CEO of the world’s largest steelmaking company, ArcelorMittal.
Mittal was born in a Baniya Family. He graduated from St. Xavier’s College with a B.Com degree in the first class.
Lakshmi Mittal began his career working for his father’s steel business. Mohanlal Mittal, his father, ran a steel business, Nippon Denro Ispat.
Lakshmi opened his first steel factory PT Ispat Indo in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia in 1976. Today, ArcelorMittal has a market capitalization of over $12 billion.
His endeavor have earned many awards and honors and has been awarded several honors for his achievements including Forbes Lifetime Achievement Award, Steel Maker of the Year, Padma Vibhushan by Government of India, European Businessman of the Year, 8th honorary Willy Korf Steel Vision Award.
Dhirubhai Ambani: Founder Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited
Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani, popularly known as Dhirubhai Ambani (1932-2002) is an Indian entrepreneur who started out humbly by selling traditional snacks to religious pilgrims.
Dhirubhai Ambani started from zero and with his hard work, he is now one of the most successful entrepreneurs of India.
His first office was a 350 sq ft (33 m2) room with one table, a telephone, three chairs, and two assistants to help them with their business.
It was set up at the Narsinatha Street in Masjid Bunder. He is top business Tycoon of India, Dhirubhai is a most popular name in the business industry of India because of the obvious reasons.
He successfully builds up Indian multinational conglomerate company India has ever seen as Reliance industries. Dhirubhai is the best source of inspiration who have given up their hopes.
Dhirubhai Ambani expanded and diversified into industries including petrochemicals, information technology, telecommunications, logistics, power generation, consumer goods, and natural resources.
Reliance is one of the most profitable companies in India and is listed on the Fortune 500 and ranked eighth among the Top 250 Global Energy Companies.
Dhirubhai Ambani’s sons (Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani) now run Reliance and are some of India’s wealthiest people.
Ratan Tata: Former chairperson of Tata Group
Ratan Naval Tata Commonly known as Ratan Tata is an Indian entrepreneurs, philanthropist, industrialist, and a former chairman of Tata Group, from 1990 to 2012, and again, as interim chairman, from October 2016 through February 2017.
Ratan Tata is the recipient of two of the highest civilian awards of India, Padma Bhushan (2000) and the Padma Vibhushan (2008).
He received other notable awards including Honorary Doctor of Science, Inspired Leadership Award, Life Time Contribution Award in Engineering for 2008, Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, Sayaji Ratna Award, Transformational Leader of the Decade and many more.
He is the most grounded persons and people in association with him can vouch for this.
He is well known for his philanthropy and business ethics. He has done so much in the limited time that he could easily be the inspiration for anyone.
Ratan Tata is a supporter of rural development, medicine, education, and considered a leading philanthropist in India.
N. R. Narayana Murthy: co-founder of Infosys (Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy)
Father of IT industry, Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy, (born 20 August 1946), is an Indian entrepreneur who co-founded Information technology consulting company Infosys with an initial investment of 10,000 rupees and now he is the owner of largest IT company giving the IT solution a back bone.
Narayana Murthy is the co-founder and chairperson of Infosys, an Indian multinational corporation that offers information technology, business consulting, and outsourcing services.
He has been chief executive officer (CEO), chairperson, chief mentor, and president before retiring and taking the title chairperson emeritus.
Before starting Infosys Limited, Narayana Murthy worked with Patni Computer Systems in Pune (Maharashtra).
Narayana Murthy also worked as a chief systems programmer at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad – IIM Ahmedabad.
He established Infosys Limited in 1981 and was its CEO from 1981 to 2002, and chairperson from 2002 to 2011. Narayana Murthy has been listed among the 12 greatest entrepreneurs of India.
Narayana Murthy stepped down from the board in 2011 and became chairman emeritus. He was appointed as executive chairperson in June 2013 for a period of five years.
With a net worth of $2.1 billion, Murthy has been described as the “father of the Indian IT sector” because of his contribution to outsourcing in India.
Shiv Nadar: Founder and chairperson of HCL Infosystems
Shiv Nadar is an Indian entrepreneur, billionaire industrialist, and philanthropist. He is the chairperson and founder of HCL Infosystems and the Shiv Nadar Foundation.
Nadar started his career at Walchand group’s College of Engineering. He soon gave it up to begin his own venture Microcomp, a company that focused on selling calculators in partnerships with several friends and colleagues.
These partners were Arjun Malhotra, Ajai Chowdhry, DS Puri, Yogesh Vaidya, Mahendra Pratap, S. Raman, and Subhash Arora.
Shiv Nadar founded HCL Infosystems in 1976 and transformed the IT hardware company into an IT enterprise.
He started HCL with an investment of ₹187,000. The IT Company reported ₹1 million revenue in the first year.
HCL Infosystems started its first international office in Singapore In 1980 to sell IT hardware and continued to address the Singapore operations.
HCL Infosystems has continued to grow, making Nadar a billionaire worth over $12.4 billion. Shiv Nadar was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2008 for his efforts in the IT industry.
Azim Premji: Former chairman of Wipro Industries
Azim Premji full name Azim Hashim Premji, informally known as the Czar of the Indian IT Industry is an Indian entrepreneur philanthropist, engineer, and investor.
He is the chairman of Wipro Limited, a diversified software, and technology company. Premji was born in Bombay, India on born 24 July 1945 in a Muslim family.
His father, Mohamed Premji was known as Rice King of Burma. Founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, invited his father to come to Pakistan, he chose to remain in India.
Wipro (formerly, Western India Palm Refined Oil Limited) was incorporated on 29 December 1945 by Mohamed Premji in Amalner, Maharashtra, India.
It was initially set up as a manufacturer of refined oils and vegetables and under the trade names of Camel, Sunflower, and Kisan. Azim Premji took over Wipro as its chairman in 1966 at the age of 21.
Azim Premji is currently the tenth richest person in India and voted among the 20 most powerful men in the world.
Azim Premji has been regularly listed as one among the 500 Most Influential Muslims of the world and twice been listed among the 100 most influential people.
He started donation to the Azim Premji Foundation with a $2.2 billion, focused on education in India.
Prmji agreed to give away at least half of his wealth by signing The Giving Pledge in 2013.
Adi Godrej: Chairman of the Godrej Group
Adi Godrej full name Adi Burjorji Godrej is an Indian entrepreneur, businessman and chairman of the Godrej group and also the second richest Parsi in India.
He is head of the Godrej family, one of the top 50 entrepreneurs of India, has a net worth of US$2.9 billion.
The Godrej Group is largely owned by the Godrej family. The company was founded in 1897 by the Indian entrepreneur duo Pirojsha Burjorji Godrej and Ardeshir Godrej.
The Godrej Group, headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, mainly deals and operates in sectors as diverse as industrial engineering, real estate, furniture, consumer products, agricultural products, appliances, and security.
Affiliated and subsidiaries companies include Godrej Industries and its subsidiaries Godrej Properties, Godrej Agrovet, Godrej Consumer Products, as well as Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd.
Apart from Godrej, Adi Godrej has been president of several Indian associations. He has been a recipient of several awards and recognitions including Rajiv Gandhi Award, 2002, Qimpro Platinum Standard Award.
Adi Godrej has been honoured with lots of awards including The Entrepreneur of the Year-Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards, 2010, Awarded honorary doctorate, Padma Bhushan, 2012 by the Government of India, and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Ramesh Agarwal: Founder and chairman of the Dainik Bhaskar Group
Ramesh Chandra Agarwal (1944 – 2017), formally known as Ramesh Agarwal was the founder of D B Corp Ltd., informally known as the Dainik Bhaskar Group.
India’s largest newspaper group, Dainik Bhaskar has a presence in 14 states and has an estimated readership of over 15 million with 62 editions.
Ramesh Agarwal started Dainik Bhaskar newspaper at Bhopal in 1958. He was on the board of D.B. Corp Limited from its inception. Agarwal launched the Indore edition in 1983 and launched the Rajasthan edition in 1996.
On July 30, 2005. Competes with the market leader Times of India, Dainik Bhaskar launched the Mumbai edition of ‘DNA’, an English Newspaper in partnership with Zee Group.
Ramesh Agarwal was ranked 95 on the Forbes list of India’s richest businesspersons. He was awarded within 50 most powerful Indian Business houses. Agarwal had been awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Lifetime Achievement Award.
