TVS iQube Electric Scooter Launched In India by TVS Motor; Prices Start At ₹ 1.15 Lakh

TVS Motors launches iQube Electric scooter at ₹ 1.15 lakh

Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturing company TVS Motor has entered the electric scooter space with the launch of iQube at ₹ 1.15 lakh and will be first sold in its home market Bangalore before introducing the model in other Indian cities. The iQube battery-powered vehicle is equal to that of the Bajaj Chetak and available in ₹ 1,00,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Chetak is also limited to Pune and Bengaluru markets. The Bajaj Chetak is also limited to Bengaluru and Pune markets.

The electric scooter has a max speed of 78 km per hour, equipped with a 4.4 kW electric motor and a driving range of 75 km on a full charge. The TVS iQube electric scooter is presently launched in Bengaluru. Acceleration from 0-40 km per hour can be achieved in 4.2 seconds. The iQube Electric Scooter is the next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform and blends of an advanced electric drivetrain.

The battery-powered vehicle has multiple functions such as navigation assist, geo-fencing, last park location, incoming call, message alert, remote battery charge status, and among others.

The iQube also has innovative features such as day and night display, park assist, multi-drive modes, and regenerative braking. The electric scooter comes with a TFT cluster and equipped with a proprietary TVS Smart connect platform and mobile app.

TVS Motor has installed production capacity of 1,000 units per month. The TVS iQube Electric Scooter can be booked through the company’s website with a booking amount of Rs 5,000. Currently, the e-scooter is available only in white colour. TVS Motor had first showcased the battery-powered vehicle concept at the 2018 Auto Expo.

“It is the most connected electricity vehicle on Indian roads and it is developed completely in-house by TVS Motors.” said, Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor Company.

Honda, the second-largest two-wheeler maker and Hero Motocorp, the current market leader, is yet to enter the fray. TVS Motors is also working on an electric three-wheeler just like rival Bajaj Auto.
