Can you share your journey in the hospitality industry and what led you to become the Hotel Manager at Pilibhit House?
Vikas Nagar: In 2008, I joined Ambassador-IHCL SeleQtions in the same city, where I grew from a Captain to a Restaurant Manager and eventually to the Food & Beverage Manager at Taj Ganges, Varanasi.
After successfully leading the Food & Beverage team, I was promoted to Operations Manager of the hotel. Before joining Pilibhit House-IHCL SeleQtions, I worked at the Taj Ganges and Taj Nadesar Palace, Varanasi.
With my strong work ethic, values, leadership, people centric approach, hard work, and determination, I climbed the ranks to become the Hotel Manager at Pilibhit House-IHCL SeleQtions in Haridwar.
Along the way, I was fortunate to work with great team members, learn from some of the most prominent leaders in the industry, which gave me valuable insights and lessons that helped me achieve my goals and reach new heights.
I’ve realized that teamwork and support are essential in overcoming challenges in the hotel industry. Together, we can achieve great things.
What makes Pilibhit House unique compared to other hotels in Haridwar?
Vikas Nagar: Pilibhit House, a century old aristocratic mansion by the Ganges has been meticulously restored, making this a soul-stirring hotel destination.
It is guided by the traditional Indian principle of Puruṣārtha – पुरुषार्थ, the 35 artfully restored rooms and graceful suites are wrapped around a serene courtyard, with balconies offering panoramic views of the Ganges and the Shivalik mountains making it an experience like no other.

Vikas Nagar: Local culture is woven into every aspect, be it the Dining Room serving vegetarian and sattvik cuisine that includes traditional recipes from the ancestral family’s home kitchen, or our restaurant.
The Terrace serving Pan-Asian and Mediterranean cuisine delicacies made using the finest local ingredients, ethically sourced from Uttarakhand’s lush valleys.
We have also hired local chefs who bring in their own flair and techniques. Further, the guests can partake in Navagraha Puja by the hotel’s priest.
It’s a sacred ritual dedicated to the nine celestial influences of our lives. This puja brings peace, balance, and protection to participants and their families. The guests can enjoy soulful Ganga Aarti on our private ghat for an immersive experience.
Can you share a memorable guest experience that had a significant impact on you?
Vikas Nagar: We recently hosted a lovely couple celebrating their 25th anniversary at Pilibhit House, Haridwar.
They didn’t ask for anything extravagant—just peace, privacy, and time together. Our team curated a quiet candlelit dinner by the Ganga, with simple flowers, soft lighting, and a home-style meal made with love. No loud celebrations, no big setup—just intimate, thoughtful luxury.
Before checking out, the husband said to me, “Vikas ji, this was beyond what we imagined… It felt personal, warm, and peaceful. Thank you for giving us this memory.
