Empowering 1,000+ young girls in five cities through holistic development and life skills training via Project Nanhi Kali
Navi Mumbai, 28th April, 2025: As part of its continued commitment to social responsibility, Walplast Welfare Foundation, the CSR arm of Walplast Products Pvt. Ltd., advanced its year-long CSR initiatives during April 2024 to March 2025 in collaboration with Project Nanhi Kali, positively impacting the lives of over 1,000 young girls across Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Prayagraj, and Varanasi.
The initiative focused on holistic development, combining education, 21st-century skills, life skills, leadership training, and sports—empowering girls from Classes 6 to 10 to become confident, capable individuals. Through this integrated approach, the initiative is driving meaningful and lasting change in their lives and communities.
Each participant completed a structured training program covering digital literacy, financial management, cybersecurity, algorithmic thinking, career awareness, and self-development. Delivered through an interactive, activity-based approach, the sessions promoted gender inclusivity and personal growth.
“Our partnership with Project Nanhi Kali is a reflection of Walplast’s core belief in sustainable impact through education,” said Mr. Kaushal Mehta, Managing Director, Walplast Products Pvt. Ltd. “It has been inspiring to witness the transformation of these young girls into empowered individuals full of potential.”
Enriching Lives Through Sports and Leadership
To nurture resilience and team spirit, the girls engaged in structured physical training and participated in district-level Toofaan Games, with 25 advancing to inter-district competitions. The sessions focused on agility, stamina, and strength building.
In Prayagraj and Varanasi, football training programs gained momentum through dedicated after-school coaching, leading to the formation of local teams and increasing enthusiasm for sports as a catalyst for confidence and growth.
“True learning empowers individuals beyond the classroom,” said Mr. Aniruddha Sinha, Senior Vice President – Marketing, CSR, Toll Manufacturing & Business Head – P2P Division at Walplast. “Through this initiative, we are not just imparting skills—we are fostering resilience, self-belief, and leadership among young girls.
Sports, life skills, and exposure-based learning are helping them realize their potential, break limiting barriers, and step into a future full of opportunities. It’s heartening to witness their transformation into confident change-makers.”
Real-World Learning Through Exposure Visits
The program also provided first-hand learning experiences through curated exposure visits. The girls visited enriching institutions including the Honey Bee Park (Nashik), Sports Authority of India (Navi Mumbai), Jawahar Planetarium and Allahabad Museum (Prayagraj), Pimpri-Chinchwad Science Park (Pune), and B.R. Ambedkar Stadium and Chandmari Museum (Varanasi)—offering insights beyond classroom walls and sparking curiosity.
Health Awareness, Community Engagement, and Capacity Building
Complementing academic efforts, the initiative also emphasized health and wellness. Sessions on nutrition, hydration, and hygiene educated the girls on essential self-care practices, while each participant maintained a sports diary to reflect on their physical well-being, encouraging mindful habits and personal responsibility.
Parental engagement played a vital role, with regular meetings conducted to share progress and strengthen support for continued learning at home.
Additionally, Walplast Welfare Foundation organised employee volunteering sessions, where employees interacted with the young girls, shared their personal and professional journeys, and offered motivation, guidance & knowledge.
These sessions, conducted both virtually and in-person, gave employees and stakeholders an opportunity to connect with the girls and witness their transformation. Kits containing sports, educational, and hygiene materials were also distributed as part of the program.
The initiative also achieved a strong retention rate, with ~100% of the girls continuing in the program and only two reported dropouts throughout the year.
To ensure high-quality delivery, trainer workshops were conducted for facilitators and Skills Associates. These sessions covered inclusive teaching practices, sports facilitation techniques, and gender-sensitive education models.
This marks the second year of Walplast’s association with Project Nanhi Kali. Last year, the initiative positively impacted over 800 young girls across districts such as Palghar, Bharuch, and Varanasi.
The ongoing collaboration underscores Walplast’s dedication to fostering a more equitable and inclusive society by enabling young girls to access education, develop essential skills, and grow into confident individuals prepared to shape their own futures.
