On December 28, Ratan Tata, the distinguished Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and a well-known Indian corporate leader and philanthropist, would be 85 years old. Respected both domestically and abroad, he has a sizable 11.8 million Twitter followers.
Ratan Tata, the most followed Indian entrepreneur on social media, gained 118 lakh more Twitter followers this year, according to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022. Despite being well-known for his business accomplishments and highly regarded work ethic, it is notable that his name is not included on the list of the richest people in the nation.
Ratan Tata is ranked 421st on the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022 with a net worth of Rs 3,800 crore. Notably, this is a rise from his 433rd-place standing in 2021 with a net worth of Rs 3,500 crore.
His primary source of income is Tata Sons and a major contributing cause to his lower ranking is the commendable practice of using 66% of the revenues from Tata Companies—which are controlled by Tata Sons—for charitable endeavors via Tata Trusts.
In fact, Tata Sons is the main holding firm for investments and the one that promotes the other Tata companies. Remarkably, charitable trusts are in charge of 66% of Tata Sons’ equity share capital. These trusts are essential to the advancement of health, education, and livelihood programs, as well as to the funding of artistic and cultural endeavors.
